CISF personnel hurt in mishap
Two paramilitary troopers were injured when a government car hit them at the main gate of Shastri Bhavan near Parliament on Friday morning.
The police said the car with a mounted red beacon owned by social justice and empowerment ministry was driven by Rajiv, a relative of the government driver identified as Jagdish. The incident took place outside Shastri Bhavan at around 6.30 am. The police said two head constables of CISF — Raghu Raj and one Rathore — suffered minor injuries on their legs.
Sources revealed that Rajiv was taking driving lessons from Jagdish when the incident happened. “Rajiv was approaching the main gate of the Shastri Bhavan when Jagdish spotted two CISF constables manning the gate. Fearing that he would be pulled up for letting Rajiv drive the ministry car, Jagdish asked him to stop the vehicle. However, the speed of the car went up and Rajiv could not control it,” a source revealed.
In the meantime, the two troopers suspected something fishy with the vehicle, which was bearing an entry sticker for Shastri Bhavan and signalled it to stop. “When it didn’t stop, the two victims thought that the occupants of the car may be terrorists and came in the way of the vehicle,” the official said.
They sustained injuries and were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital form where they got discharged after receiving primary medication.
The police has arrested Jagdish and Rajiv and they have been charged with different sections of the IPC and the vehicle was has been impounded.
