City cop killed on way to work
A Delhi police sub-inspector was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle in north Delhi on Sunday morning when he was on his way to a police post to take over duty.
The incident was reported from Civil Lines at around 6.40 am and the victim has been identified as Devender Singh. He was going on his motorcycle towards Kishanganj police post near Tees Hazari Court. The police is yet to trace the vehicle and the driver as there is no eyewitness.
A passerby informed the police about Singh lying on the road. He died on the spot. His body was sent for post-mortem. A native of Muzaffarnagar, UP, he lived in Civil Lines with his wife and two children.
A case under Sections 279 (rash and negligent driving) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) has been registered.

Lok Adalats for old cases Jan. 29, 30

Jan. 23: The Delhi Legal Services Authority (DLSA) is holding a Lok Adalat on January 30 in all the six district court complexes — Patiala House, Saket, Rohini, Dwarka, Tis Hazari and Kakardooma — to settle pending cases under Negotiable Instruments Act and recovery matters of financial institutions and telecom companies.
Those wanting to settle their cases in the Lok Adalat can approach the concerned court where the matter is pending or can approach the DLSA located in district court complexes before January 30.
“The cases registered under the NI Act (cheque bounce), recovery cases of banks, financial institutions and telecom companies would be taken up,” said the DLSA project officer, Digvinay Singh.
The Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee (DHCLSC) is holding a Lok Adalat on January 29 to settle labour and accident claim cases which are pending adjudication for years in regular courts.
