Cloudy New Year’s day, predicts Met
Delhiites were greeted by a clear morning on the New Year’s eve after having braced a number of foggy days altogether. However, the weatherman has warned that the city would get colder in the days to come.
The Met department has predicted that January 1 would be partly cloudy.
“Skies will remain partly cloudy with cold winds sweeping the capital. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 18 degrees Celsius,” said an official of the India Meteorological Depart-ment.
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius on Friday, which is four notches above the normal for this time of the season.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 17.8 degrees Celsius.
The Met official, however, forecast a drop in the day temperatures in the coming days.
Meanwhile, seventeen trains were affected because of the morning fog and the agitation of the Gujjar community for five per cent job quota in Rajasthan.
According to a railway official, 15 trains were delayed and two were rescheduled on Friday.
However, the flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport were normal as the visibility was good.
“There were no diversions and cancellations of flights, however, some flights were delayed,” an airport official said.
