CM inaugurates 3 underground water reservoirs
Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday inaugurated three underground reservoirs (UGRs) and waters boosting stations (WBS) in the capital.
Ms Dikshit inaugurated the UGRs and WBS at Sardar Patel Marg, East Kidwai Nagar and Kali Bari Marg.
The UGR and WBS at Sardar Patel Marg has a capacity of 34 lakh litres of water and has five booster pumps. This reservoir will be fed by the Delhi Jal Board line from Palam reservoir. The areas benefiting from this UGR will be Chankyapuri, government guesthouses, telephone exchange, post office, Chanakya cinema and embassies at Chanakyapuri, Sardar Patel Marg, Malcha Marg, Chandragupta Marg, Nyay Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Satya Marg, Shanti Path and Niti Marg. They will be able to avail of water supply on a continuous basis with the help of the UGR, which has been built at a cost of `6 crores and took nine months to be completed.
The UGR and WBS at East Kidwai Nagar has a capacity of 4.2 lakhs litres with three booster pumps. To be fed by WBS at Jor Bagh, this new facility will help at least 784 flats in D and E Blocks of East Kidwai Nagar to get continuous water supply.
The Kali Bari Marg UGR and WBS has a capacity of 25 lakhs litres of water with five booster pumps. The area of Gole Market, Baba Kharak Singh Marg flats, Ashoka Road, Kali Bari Marg, Jai Singh Road, Pt. Pant Marg, Sansad Marg, Janpath, Rafi Marg, Raisina Road, RML Hospital Area and Maulana Azad Road will be fed with continuous water supply with the help of the new facility.
