Cold eases a bit, but showers likely soon
Delhiites woke up to a shallow foggy morning on Tuesday that made for a clear sunny day. The chilly winds didn’t blow, giving Delhiites much relief from the biting cold.
Flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport remained normal. However, some trains were running late.
The minimum temperature recorded early on Tuesday was two notches below the average at 4.6ºC, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum is expected to hover around 17ºC, it added. “There was a shallow fog in the morning which soon gave way to a clear, bright day. The cold winds will continue to sweep Delhi over the next few days. There is a possibility of light showers around January 13-14,” an IMD official said. On Sunday, the temperature touched the season’s lowest at 11ºC for maximum and winds kept adding to the chill. According to an IMD official, people feel more cold than the actual temperature because cold winds decrease the body temperature.
