College doubts ragging report, to take action
A student reported an alleged case of ragging but prompt investigations by the authorities found the complaint to be fake following which the college administration has said that it will take action against the complainant if he is found guilty.
A student of the Delhi College of Arts and Commerce complained on the national UGC anti-ragging helpline number 1800-180-5522 but did not tell the name of those involved in ragging.
The college administration immediately sent the report to the vice-chancellor and DCP (south) for action over the incident.
According to sources, a student, Ashutosh Jha, complained on the national helpline number that some students had ragged him.
The administration sprang to action and started tracing the student who had registered the complaint.
The college officials were able to trace a student by the name but the name of the father did not match with that of the complainant.
The college principal Dr M.S. Rawat said that someone had lodged a fake complaint with the intention to malign the image of the college.
He said the college is on seventh place in the city and holds nineteenth rank in the country.
Dr Rawat further said that questioning in the matter will be done by the police on Wednesday and the student will be punished if found guilty of lodging a fake complaint as it maligns the image of the college.
