Cong councillor claims she got extortion calls
A woman municipal councillor from the Congress has alleged that she has been getting extortion threats from an unidentified caller. She has lodged a complaint with the west Delhi police.
Congress councillor, Veena Saini representing Nangloi (east) alleged that she got calls from two persons threatening to kill her family members if she didn’t pay them `50 lakhs. She added that the callers demanded the amount saying she should pay them if she wanted to remain a councillor. She added that the calls may have something to do with the fact that municipal elections are due next year.
Ms Saini claimed that the first call was made to her on Wednesday morning. A man, identifying himself as one Dhankar and claiming to be from the police demanded the money. She got another call in the afternoon, in which the caller identified himself as one Anil. She has been getting repeated calls since then. Ms Saini has lodged a complaint at the Nihal Vihar police station in west Delhi.
