Cong sets up panel for Delhi polls
Aiming to secure a fourth consecutive term in power in Delhi, the Congress party on Monday constituted a 27-member election committee which has top leaders from the Centre and state, including chief minister Sheila Dikshit and DPCC chief J.P. Agrawal.
Mr Agrawal heads the panel which has all senior leaders from Delhi, including Union ministers Kapil Sibal, Krishna Tirath and AICC general secretaries Janardan Dwivedi and Ajay Maken as members.
All party MPs, including Sandip Dikshit, Ramesh Kumar, Parvez Hashmi and Mahabal Mishra, have also been included.
Senior MLAs and leaders Tajdar Babbar, Subhash Chopra, Prem Singh and Delhi ministers Arvinder Singh Lovely and Haroon Yusuf are also members.
Meanwhile, the government gave nod for extension of retirement age limit for teachers of government schools from 62 years to 65 years.
The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting presided over by chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
