Cop thrashed for honking
A 40-year-old Delhi police head constable was allegedly assaulted by another constable and his father in Alipur, outer Delhi, in a road rage incident on Friday.
The incident took place at around 9.30 pm near Singhu border over the issue of
honking, the police said. The victim has been identified as Vinod Kumar who is posted in the police control room (PCR) department of the Delhi police in Alipur circle.
The accused constable, identified as Ramesh Singh, is also deployed with PCR. Both are residents of a village near Singhu border.
A senior police officer said Kumar was returning home after work on his motorcycle when he had an argument with Singh who was in a car with his father Vishal Singh over incessant honking. “The father-son duo was in their car when Kumar honked from behind. Kumar got provoked and an argument broke out between them which soon turned ugly. Kumar was beaten up and was attacked on his head with a blunt object,” said a police officer. Kumar was rushed to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital where he received eight stitches on his head before being referred to the LNJP Hospital.
The condition of Kumar was stated to be stable, said the officer.
A case in this regard has been registered at the Alipur police station and efforts were being made to nab the farther-son-duo.
However, senior officers denied the incident to be a case of road rage and termed it a matter of personal enmity.
