Cops ‘assault’ NRI woman

An elderly NRI woman was allegedly assaulted by a group of police officers at the behest of a local property dealer in the upscale Defence Colony area in south Delhi on Friday. The police sources said the victim, identified as Dr Manjula Krippendorf, 64, along with her daughter, was allegedly assaulted by the station house officer (SHO) of

the Defence Colony police station and a sub-inspector. However, the police said that it was conducting investigations in the matter and no case has been registered in the matter. Sources revealed that the matter is related to a disputed property in Defence Colony area.
The police has transferred the matter to its vigilance department. According to Ms Krippendorf, the dispute started way back in 1995 when she gave her B-56 house to a builder identified as Sunil Goel for rebuilding the house and went abroad. “He had constructed illegal portions on the ground floor prompting the MCD to seal the ground floor. On Friday, after a protracted court battle, we won the case and the house was de-sealed,” she said.
“When I came to the house on Friday, I saw almost 25 men along with Sunil Goel staking claim on my house. He then manhandled my daughter and assaulted me. When I saw the police coming, I heaved a sigh of relief. But to my utter surprise, the SHO started hurling abuses at me,” she said. However, Ajay Goel, brother of Sunil Goel, rebutted all the allegations. “We have not done anything. She kept on abusing us and her daughter slapped me. The matter is in court,” he said.
In 1995, after taking the property from Krippendorf, Sunil gave the house to a builder identified as Vijay Dikshit. “The basement and ground floor was supposed to be hers while we would have owned the first and the second floor after constructing the building. She took Rs 25 lakhs from us as security deposit in case the work was not completed in time. But the house was rebuilt and when we asked for our money, she refused to pay back after which we filed a complaint with the courts.”
