Cops ‘identify’ vehicle used
The four suspects picked up by Delhi police in connection with the rape of a girl from the northeast last week have led the investigators to a vehicle “similar to one used in the crime” with the police releasing the sketch of third suspect on Tuesday.
Union home minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday regretted the incident and said that the Delhi police is expected to get a breakthrough very soon in the case. The case is, however, far from being cracked with police sources revealing that there is little information on the suspects and the police is on a random search operation spree in different districts of the national capital to identity the owners of vehicles such as the one used in the crime which took place last Wednesday.
Deputy commissioner of police (south), H.G.S. Dhaliwal, claimed that the investigators have got some specific leads in the case and further questioning of the four suspects is on. “We are still questioning them and they are very relevant to our investigations. A vehicle similar to the one used in the crime has been more or less identified,” Mr Dhaliwal said.
One of the detainee is from Haryana and the other three work for him. They all have a criminal background and were apprehended on Monday on specific inputs.
Meanwhile, the south Delhi police released the sketch of the third suspect in the case.
