Cops announce `10lakh reward
The Delhi police has announced a cash reward of `10 lakhs to anyone providing information on the two motorcycle-borne assailants involved in the firing on a tourist bus near Jama Masjid in Old Delhi on September 19, which left two Taiwanese injured even as two suspects hailing from Jammu & Kashmir were picked up by the police from Old Delhi on Thursday.
A press release issued by Delhi police stated that city police commissioner, Y.S. Dadwal, has announced a reward of `10 lakhs for anyone giving information on the whereabouts of the two bikers suspected of carrying out the attack on September 19.
“Any person giving information that can lead to the arrest of the two bikers will be suitably rewarded with `10 lakhs,” the communiqué said.
The incident had raised serious questions over the security preparedness for the Commonwealth Games with some countries and athletes even threatening to pull out of the event.
Sources said that the investigations have hit a roadblock as the main lead in the case, an email purportedly sent by the terror outfit Indian Mujahideen claiming responsibility for the attack, could not yield tangible results.
The mail, which was initially traced to a suburb in Mumbai, was found to have been routed through multiple servers and the investigators were left with little evidence to work on.
The police has so far questioned 50 people suspected to have links with the incident but they were all let off. The police is now banking on the call records of three mobile towers, which could provide some clues in the case.
