Cops declare award for culprits’ info
With the investigations into the murder of Shobhit Modi drawing a blank, the Delhi police has announced a cash reward to anyone who provides information on the culprits.
“The commissioner of police, Delhi, has announced a cash reward of `50,000, which will hold good for a period of one year, with immediate effect for any one who gives any information regarding the culprits involved in the murder of teenager Shobhit Modi,” a press communiqué issued by the police said.
The police has so far questioned more than 400 people in the murder case. Those questioned include petty criminals of south Delhi, residents of Vasant Kunj and adjoining areas, Shobhit’s friends, vendors and TSR drivers operating in the area.
The police had picked up three suspects last week after it came to notice that their location was “suspicious” when Shobhit, a student of Manav Rachna University in Faridabad, was found stabbed in Vasant Kunj on May 7. The suspects were however released after police did not find any concrete evidence against them.
“The investigations are heading in the right direction. The case may take some time but it will be solved,” said DCP (south) Chhaya Sharma.
The police is concentrating on gathering scientific evidence against the suspects before any arrests are made. The investigations are being conducted by special teams of south Delhi police and crime branch is assisting with technical assistance.
