Cops probe difference in writing
Investigations into the mysterious murder of industrialist Anil Nanda’s driver, Janeshwar Sharma, have revealed that Sharma had received a call from Nanda’s office on the fateful day with a witness claiming that he saw him entering Nanda’s residence with a “bottle-shaped thing wrapped in a newspaper under his armpit”.
A forensic team of Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) visited the scene of crime on Tuesday and is reported to have collected some material from the servant quarters where the incident took place. The police is also questioning new suspects in the case and claimed that “some developments” have taken place over the last two days.
Police sources also revealed that there were some discrepancies in the letter which was written by the deceased Sharma to his brother Yogesh before the June 9 incident. “There are certain discrepancies in the handwriting of the letters handed over to us by Yogesh and Sharma’s original handwriting. We are trying to clear them up before confirming their authenticity,” the official said.
Investigations have revealed that a call was received by Sharma on his mobile from the office land line number at 6.21 am on June 9. The call was made by an unknown person who told Sharma not to come for the morning shift. Sharma normally worked in the morning shift. However, it is not clear why he turned up at work so early despite being asked not to come.
