Cops seek CBI help to solve Nanda driver death case
The Delhi police is seeking the opinion of CBI’s forensic team on the evidence collected from the crime scene to establish what could have led to the death of industrialist Anil Nanda’s driver, Janeshwar Sharma, with the investigators suspecting that he may have attempted self-immolation on June 4 at Nanda’s residence in New Friends Colony.
The forensic team collected samples of evidence, including the footage of TV channels which showed Sharma crying foul from his bed in Safdarjung hospital, where he was admitted on June 4. The CBI has also collected a copy of his post-mortem report from Delhi police. “We have sought their opinion on the circumstances leading to the death of Sharma. Our investigations suggest that Sharma attempted self-immolation,” a top source said.
The CBI is expected to submit its findings by next week. The police has questioned more than 30 people in the case so far, but the investigations have not thrown up any major clue into the alleged murder.
