Cops seek footage to save their skins
After being served a notice by the Supreme Court for forcefully evicting Baba Ramdev and his supporters in the early hours of morning when they were asleep, the Delhi police is asking various TV news channels for footage to save themselves from the wrath of the law.
In an attempt to justify themselves for having used force, the Delhi police has called up the television news channels to provide them the footage of the pre-dawn melee on Sunday night. Many of them have already provided the footage.
However, the Delhi police has a 15-day time period to prepare an answer for its action.
According to sources, police commissioner B.K. Gupta held a meeting with the high-ranking officials.
It is only ironical that the footage, on the basis of which the Delhi police wants to strengthen its case, has all the evidence of the police action against the unarmed followers of Baba who were fast asleep.
The Delhi police is accusing the followers of hurling stones at them because of which the Delhi police had to defend itself, lobbing teargas shells and using water cannon against them.
