Cops seize heroin, bust drug racket
The Delhi police’s special cell has busted an international drug racket and seized heroin worth crores of rupees from a former ground staffer of Amritsar airport who has been arrested.
The special cell claimed that the accused, Sanjeev Kumar, 23, was in possession of more than four kilograms of pure heroin estimated to be worth more than `8 crores in the international market. “Our team led by inspector Satinder Sangwan received a tip off that Sanjeev was supposed to deliver a consignment to a person near Akshardam Temple,” said special cell additional commissioner of police Shibesh Singh.
The police claimed that a trap was laid on Wednesday evening and Sanjeev was arrested, “He deals with heroin suppliers who run a racket across Asia. During interrogation Sanjeev disclosed that he joined the drug trade to earn easy money. He procured the consignment from his counterparts in neighbouring countries,” Mr Singh said.
