Cops slap MCOCA on Sonu Panjaban
The Delhi police has invoked the stringent MCOCA against a woman pimp, who was allegedly involved in a number of criminal cases.
The accused, Sonu Panjaban, 30, who was arrested from south Delhi’s Mehrauali on April 1, is involved in a number of cases including a murder in Jhajjar in
Haryana. “Panjaban is a known pimp who has been running a racket of top sex workers and supplies them to elite people in upscale areas of the national capital including five star hotels and farm houses,” a senior police official said.
“Panjaban entered the flesh trade some years back to support her lavish life style. Initially, she worked alone but as the business became more demanding, she got high profile clients added to list and formed a group of inspiring models and actresses who were willing to be part of the racket,” the official said.
The sources said Panjaban knows a number of pimps and provides girls at her residence and also supplies them to clients in various hotels and farm houses. She has earlier been arrested in similar cases in Preet Vihar and Saket. Under MCOCA, the accused is not granted bail easily and the statement recorded in front of a senior police officer is admissible in court as evidence.
The accused was married to one Vijay, who was killed in a shootout. Later she married Hemant, who was also killed in a shootout with the Delhi and Gurgaon police.
