Cops solve murder of married woman
The south east Delhi police has cracked the murder case of a 21-year-old woman who was brutally murdered at the Millennium Park in April.
The police said the accused identified as Jitender Singh, 26, a plumber, allegedly slit the throat of the deceased Sandhya after marrying her. The deceased was already married and Singh wanted to get rid of her.
“Sandhya had eloped from her in-laws house in Bihar and was staying with Singh in Ghaziabad. She was continuously mounting pressure on Singh to marry her. On April 23, the duo got symbolically-married at the Millennium Park in the night, after which the accused slit the woman’s throat with a paper knife and escaped from the park,” additional commissioner of police (south east) Ajay Chaudhary said.
The police said the body, draped in a pink sari, was recovered next day along with a box of bridal makeup, bangles and other items used by brides following which the cops registered a case of murder at the Sunlight Colony police station. “The deceased wanted to get married to Singh who was no longer interested in her. Singh, who was earlier arrested in a mobile snatching case in 2007, hatched a plan to get rid of her and the couple came to Indraprashta Park where they married,” the official said.
