Cops solve Sarita Vihar murder case
A 21-year-old boxing coach was arrested for allegedly killing his “father” who disowned his mother and used to publicly humiliate him, the police said on Monday.
Ravi, 21, was apprehended with his friend Rahul, 19, on Sunday from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly murdering Bhim Singh Nagar three days ago in Sarita Vihar. Ravi is a boxing coach at Indira Gandhi Stadium.
Nagar’s murder had triggered protests in Sarita Vihar with locals staging demonstrations against the police for not taking action on his complaints about extortion calls after he received `10 crores as compensation for land.
During investigations, it came to light that Nagar had an illicit relationship with one Kamlesh who claimed to be his wife.
She also claimed to have two sons Lokesh and Ravi and a daughter out of this relationship.
Their relations had strained over the issue of share in property.
“Kamlesh’s elder son Ravi was missing since the murder,” said deputy commissioner of police (southeast), O.P. Mishra. Ravi repeatedly got in touch with his mother after the incident. The absence of Ravi and his conduct aroused suspicion, he said.
“Initially, he was very fond of Ravi but later on he started ill-treating his mother. Since he was also humiliated publicly several times by Nagar, Ravi decided to kill him,” Mr Mishra said.
On December 24, Ravi and Rahul intercepted Nagar who was on a motorcycle with his employee Pradeep. “They hit Nagar with their motorcycle and he fell down. Pradeep jumped the nearby wall and Ravi and Rahul started firing at Nagar who ran to save himself,” he said.
The police found that the duo had allegedly stolen the motorcycle from Arts Faculty of Delhi University earlier. —PTI
