Cops still clueless in gangrape case
Despite three official CCTV cameras installed along the route from Dhaula Kuan in south Delhi, where a young girl from Northeast was abducted and gangraped on Wednesday, to Mangolpuri area in outer Delhi not a single camera has recorded the footage of the vehicle.
Although no major breakthrough has been made in the case, the police claimed that a person approached them on Wednesday, who claimed to have seen the vehicle and the accused, who were allegedly inebriated at the time of the incident. “We are gathering details of the suspects. It is very difficult to say what class they belonged to as the crime took place during the night. She was probably held on gunpoint while being raped,” DCP (south) H.G.S. Dhaliwal, said.
Mr Dhaliwal said the victim was abducted at 1.23 am on Wednesday and her friend made a PCR call at 1.26. When Mr Dhaliwal was asked by reporters why the police didn’t immediately swung into action and barricade all the roads leading from Nanakpura Gurdwara he said, “Many factors have to be taken into consideration before setting up barricades on an important stretch like ring road. A beat constable checked a stretch on his motorbike but he didn’t find anyone.”
The police sources however claimed that the call was not even flashed in other districts.
The police has also issued a list of guidelines to the BPO owners after a meeting with them on Thursday and they have been asked to instruct the drivers to ensure that women employees reach their houses safely when dropped during nights.
