Couple fears family, asks cops for help
Fearing honour killing, a couple which got married in Australia against family wishes, has petitioned local police in Ghaziabad for protection. The couple, Mohit and Kaamna, got married in Sydney, Australia, where they have been working in a bank for the past one year.
Police officers said that on Thursday, Mohit received a call from Kaamna’s family. “The caller, who identified himself as a distant cousin of Kaamna, threatened the couple of dire consequences,” said the police.
Mohit and Kaamna reached the local police station in early hours on Friday and lodged a complaint.
Meanwhile, the police said that it is questioning few members of Kaamna’s family and action will be taken accordingly.
Mohit and Kaamna did Masters in Business Administration from Sydney University before taking up jobs in a bank. “They (Mohit and Kaamna) got married early this year despite opposition from their families,” said the police.
