Couple held for duping city doctor
A couple has been arrested by the economic offences wing (EOW) of the Delhi police for allegedly duping a Delhi-based doctor of `25 lakhs by promising admission for his son in a reputed medical college.
According to the police, a senior doctor in the city wanted to get his son admitted to a medical college in Karnataka. His cousin told him about one Renu, a resident of Hubli, who assured that her husband, Kiran Kumar S. Magadi who posed as head of several fictitious bodies and organisations having pompous names, would arrange it.
The doctor was told that the admission would get delayed. Kumar said that the expenses would be around `25 lakhs which the doctor paid. However, after a fortnight, Kumar said that the admission was not possible. He gave two cheques of `15 lakhs and `10 lakhs, both of which bounced.
Renu issued two fresh cheques but they too bounced. The victim then approached the EOW.
