Court notice to parents on petition of daughter
Delhi high court judge Ajit Bharihoke has directed parents of a 22-year-old girl, who apprehends honour killing as she refused to go back to her husband’s house after being forcibly married, to appear before the court on March 13.
The court directed Raghubar Prasad Meena and his wife Jagmanti, residents of Jaipur in Rajasthan, to appear before it after hearing a petition filed by their daughter Sheela Meena.
In her petition, Sheela alleged that her parents along with maternal uncle Manraj Meena, who is with the Delhi police, harassed her to get married with the person of their choice.
She claimed in her petition before the court she had to quit her jobs in Bengaluru and Noida because of the pressure from the family. She also sought court protection after apprehending threat to her life from her family.
