Court orders framing of charges against councillor
A city court has ordered framing of charges against a BJP councillor and his elder brother in a molestation case, paving the way for their trial.
Tis Hazari Court metropolitan magistrate Vandana Jain has ordered framing of charges against Raj Kumar Khurana, a BJP councillor from Mansarovar Garden, and Tilak Raj under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman) and 34 (common intention to commit a crime) of the IPC for allegedly molesting their neighbour’s wife.
Amit Kumar, lawyer of the accused, told this newspaper, “My clients are innocent. I will challenge the order in a superior court.”
Mr Kumar said that his clients were neighbours of BJP leader Vimal Bhayana. In 2007, Vimal and his sons had allegedly beaten Raj Kumar and his brother Tilak following which an FIR was registered against them. The police arrested Vimal and his sons who were sent to Tihar Jail. Vimal’s wife registered an FIR against Raj Kumar and his brother Tilak under Sections 323 and 354 and 34 of the IPC just to counter my client’s FIR, Mr Kumar said.
