Court to trial judges: Put bail orders on Net
The Delhi high court on Wednesday directed the principal district and sessions judge to instruct all trial court judges to put bail orders on the Internet t make it easily accessible to all the undertrial prisoners and convicts lodged in various jails in the city.
The court’s direction came after going through a petition of a Delhi-based lawyer D.M. Bhalla alleging several prisoners have been languishing in jail after they failed to furnish the bail bond and surety, even if the lower court passed orders directing the jail authorities to release the UTP/convicts.
Mr Bhalla claimed that more than 100 such prisoners were lodged in jail and the authorities failed to do anything for them.
A court also directed the trial courts to communicate the bail orders to the concerned authority of Tihar through fax, apart from a direction to put them on the net. The division bench also directed the chief law officer of the jail to constitute a committee which will collect all information on the bail orders passed by courts.
