CP to Qutab Metro opens 3 pm today
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is set to open one of the longest underground Metro tunnels with the commissioning of the Central Secretariat-Qutab Minar section on Friday.
The line running from Jahangirpuri-Huda City Centre in Gurgaon has 25 km underground tunnel and 20 km elevated section and will cover a total distance of 45 km in 80 minutes. Of the 34 stations on this line, 20 are underground while 14 are elevated. The DMRC plans to run 36 to 40 trains during peak/off peak hours to cater to the passenger requirement on the line.
This section will be inaugurated on Friday at 1 pm and will be open for general public from 3 pm.

Dusu polls: Voting at 51 colleges

The Delhi University Student Union elections will be held on Friday. The voting at 51 colleges will be held in two shifts amidst tight security. The students of morning colleges will vote from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm and those of the evening colleges will vote between 4 pm and 8 pm. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), All-India Students Association (AISA) and Students Federation of India (SFI) have put up candidates.
The police is keeping a strict vigil. The police is patrolling the area and cops are also present in civvies. Policewomen will also be deployed near the women colleges.
