Criminal killed man to fake own death, is held
A 32-year-old man has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing a man in a bid to get himself declared dead. Facing several criminal cases in Punjab and Haryana and wanting to get rid of them, he killed a man to fake his own death.
According to the police, a charred body was found near Bhalswa dairy lake in northwest Delhi on May 22. ID proofs were found suggesting that he was Karma Agarwal, a resident of Fatehgarh district, Punjab. The police informed his family who came over and identified the body. The Bhalswa dairy police registered a case of murder.
Over a period of time, investigations revealed that Karma was actually alive and the person who had died was somebody else. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Karma and his associate, Satnam alias Sattu, from near the Bhalswa dairy gurdwara on Monday. Karma revealed that he was convicted in some cases but the trial was on in others. He came to Delhi and with Sattu, his associate, picked up an inebriated man lying unconscious. They took him to a desolate spot near Bhalswa dairy lake, put Karma’s clothes, wallet, election photo ID and three passport size photographs on him, poured petrol and set him afire.
