CRPF ex-cop assaults DJB men, held

A dismissed woman CRPF constable was arrested by the police for assaulting DJB officials in Sainik Enclave area. Police sources said the accused CRPF constable, Raj Bala, was arrested for allegedly thrashing the zonal engineer, junior engineer and a plumber of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The victims, Rajesh Rohilla, zonal engineer, Kamlesh, junior engineer, and Ajit, plumber, had gone to hand a challan issued by the DJB against Raj Bala on last Saturday for having an illegal water connection at her home in Sainik Enclave in southwest Delhi when the incident took place.
Police officials said the matter came to light when a team from the Baba Haridas Nagar police station reached the spot to attend a PCR call. When the police team reached the spot, they learnt that three DJB personnel were assaulted by the woman, her two children and her aide. Deputy commissioner of police (southwest) A.K. Ojha confirmed the incident saying, “We arrested Raj Bala under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 186 and 379 (theft) of the IPC.”
Source said the accused tore the challan receipt book of the DJB officials. “She was out for some work when the three DJB personnel arrived at her house to issue the challan. Her daughter informed her and she arrived within minutes on her motorcycle and started assaulting Ajit,” a police official said. When the other two senior DJB officers objected, the accused, her children and an aide started thrashing them.
