Delhi govt schools best in country
With the performance of the Delhi government schools declared best of all government schools in the country, the city government-run schools have reached a new milestone. The declaration has come after the Class 12th results were out on Friday.
The Delhi government’s education minister, Arvinder Singh Lovely, on Friday in a press conference stated that the pass percentage of government schools has gone up by 1.73 per cent from 87.1per cent in 2009 to 88.87 per cent in 2010. Mr Lovely added, “The number of schools achieving 100% result has increased from 50 to 63 whereas number of schools achieving 90% and above has increased from 355 to 400 while the pass percentage of government schools has increased by 1.73per cent, whereas there has been a decrease of 0.04 per cent in public schools.”
Meanwhile, Delhi CM Shiela Dikshit has described this as a matter of great pride. She added, “The Class 12th board results have been continuously showing an upward trend. This is due to the hard-work put in by the children and parents, under the supervision and guidance of our school teacher. Our principals, teachers and officers have been working dedicatedly to bring about a qualitative and quantitative change in the system.”
