DERC to get new chairman
After over six months, the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission will have a new chairman, as former bureaucrat P.D. Sudhakar would be sworn in for the post by city power minister Haroon Yusuf on Monday. Also, the Delhi government will get its new chief secretary in P. K. Tripathi, who too would be taking charge of his office on Monday.
TheDelhi Electricity Regulatory Commission had been without a head for over six months and after much delay, Mr Sudhakar has been selected for the post. Though the DERC could not come up with the power tariff order last year after the intervention of the city government, this year the power regulator is much behind schedule in finalising the new tariff structure in the absence of key members in the statutory body.
Mr Sudhakar was a Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer and had served as special secretary in the Union ministry of corporate affairs before retiring in January this year.
Meanwhile, Mr Tripathi would take place of the outgoing chief secretary Rakesh Mehta, who is moving out as the head of the Delhi State Election Commission.
Mr Mehta spearheaded Delhi’s preparations for the Commonwealth Games last year and had served as the managing director of the Delhi Transco also.
