Doc strike at DDU Hospital leads to death of 4 patients
Four patients, including a four-year-child, died at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital here on Saturday as the medical services were crippled due to a strike by the doctors after one of them was allegedly physically assaulted by a patient and his relatives on Friday night. The doctors later suspended the strike.
“Four patients died in the hospital due to no medical help. Two were brought to casualty and the other two were already in the hospital,” a hospital official said.
“The child, a resident of Harinagar, suffering from dengue was brought to the hospital early morning and died in the afternoon. His parents kept asking for medical help but there wasn’t any,” a hospital source said. The hospital authorities asked the doctors to suspend the strike in the wake of the death of the child. The doctors suspended the strike immediately.
