Docs relieved at Anna fast end
The doctors keeping a watch on Anna Hazare’s health heaved a sigh of relief following the news of his breaking fast on Sunday morning but their worry quotient remains high.
“It’s good news that Anna will break his fast on Sunday morning. But the fact is that he is getting weaker by every hour,” Dr Naresh Trehan said.
“However, we will keep a close watch on his health as his blood pressure had dipped and heart beat increased last night. There is so much of energy loss. His weight has come down by 7.5 kg. But his vital parameters are stable today,” he added.
“He regulates his fluid balance on his own and says that he knows how to regulate his internal system. He is habituated to it.’’ The doctors have advised him a larger intake of proteins.
“We have advised him to take a larger quantity of protein to replenish the muscle loss in the past 270 hours. We can only advise him to get hospitalised. He will take time to recuperate,” he further said.
Hazare, 74, has been surviving only on water since August 16, when he started his fast against corruption.
On Saturday morning, the doctors had pressed panic button as Anna’s fast spilled over to the 12th day as his blood pressure dipped and the heart beat increased. More doctors were assigned to keep a vigil on Anna’s health.
Team Anna sources said doctors were really worried and they expressed their fear that his internal organs were getting affected due to the fast.
