DU awaits list to cancel bogus admissions
The admission of students on the basis of fake caste certificate will not be cancelled till the Delhi police gives the colleges and the Delhi University a list of such students.
Dean, Students’ Welfare Department, Prof. J.M. Khurana said, “The crime branch of Delhi police has not contacted DU officially and has not provided any list of students who got admission by submitting fake certificates. We will cancel their admission only when the Delhi police provide us the list”.
He also said that the university will carry out its own investigation too, to cross check the documents. However, this process takes over three to four months. Once the admissions are cancelled the seats will be offered to other candidates.
On June 25, the Delhi police busted a racket and arrested three men who allegedly got over 60 students admitted in various colleges in DU last year. According to the police, they got 12 students admitted, including one each in Venkateswara College, Motilal Nehru College, College of Vocational Studies, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kamla Nehru and Shahid Bhagat Singh and two in Shri Ram College of Commerce.
The colleges and the Delhi University are awaiting the list of students from the Delhi police so that they can cancel such admissions and offer those seats to deserving students.
Meanwhile, the students from reserved category turned out in large numbers to seek admission. More than 2,000 students were admitted for over 1,500 seats in various colleges and courses.
