Dusu polls: V-C appoints officials
Delhi University vice-chancellor has appointed officials for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) forthcoming elections.
DU vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh has appointed Ashok Vohra from department of philosophy as the chief election commissioner while D.S. Rawat from department of chemistry is the chief returning officer. Deputy dean of university information centre, Satish Kumar has been named the returning officer. The V-C has also appointed the principals of colleges and heads of institutions affiliated to Dusu as election officers in their respective colleges and institutions. Dusu is the representative body of the students from most colleges and faculties. Besides, each college has its own students union to which elections are held every year.

No alumni event in Hindu again

In a meeting on Friday, the Staff Association of Hindu College decided not to allow its alumni to hold any event in the college premises, following the allegation by the hostel warden that members of the alumni association consumed liquor and cigarettes, despite prohibition and made the campus a “drinking den”.

South Indian Bank launches scheme

The South Indian Bank has introduced a new term deposit scheme called “SIB 85” to commemorate the bank’s 85th anniversary with an attractive interest rate of 9.75 per annum for senior citizens. The new deposit scheme is for two year and is open for general, NRE/NRO customers also. The rate of interest is 9.25 per cent per annum. The scheme is operative from August 1 onwards. South Indian Bank general manager and Delhi regional head T.J. Raphael has informed that the scheme is open only for a limited period.
