Dutch rape: Accused bail plea rejected
A city court on Saturday rejected the bail plea of Yasir Altaf, accused of raping two Dutch women while posing as tourist guide. The accused had on Friday argued that he had “consensual” relations with the complainant and was being falsely implicated in the case.
Rejecting the bail plea, district judge S.P. Garg said that the petition was devoid of any merit and enlarging the accused at this stage was not possible as the investigating was at a nascent stage.
Yasir Altaf, the accused, was arrested by the Connaught Place police after an FIR was lodged against him following a complaint by two Dutch women.
The women had alleged that Altaf and his associate posed as tourist guides and took them to Kashmir. The victims had alleged that the accused raped them many times in the past five months. They succumbed to the accused as they had taken away their passports and threatened them of dire consequences, the victims had said.
Arguing during the bail plea on Friday, Altaf had claimed that he had “consensual” relations the complainant and that she was falsely implicating him.
