Ex-cop held in murder case

A dismissed sub-inspector of the Delhi police has been arrested in the west Delhi for allegedly killing his domestic help in June. The accused was angry over the fact that the domestic help, who had been working with him for the past 15 to 20 years, had become friendly with his wife.

According to the police, the incident had come to light around 8 pm on June 16 when a call was received from Sunrise Apartment about a man being beaten up by one Azad Singh in the Vikaspuri area of west Delhi. When the police reached the spot, the victim had been taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead. Apart from a deep slash on the left side of his temple, the victim, who was identified as Ganga, also had severe external injuries. The accused Azad Singh, who was absconding, was arrested on Tuesday and the knife used in the murder was recovered at his instance.
During interrogation, Mr Singh told the police that his wife Kushalata Kadyan had become friendly with Ganga, which often became a cause of quarrel between them. On June 15 night too, the two had quarrelled on the same issue. Next day, when his wife, along with his two sons, had gone to meet a lawyer in connection with a legal matter, Mr Singh attacked Ganga with a sharp knife and also beat him badly.
The security guard of the Apartment, Heera Lal, was an eyewitness to the incident, whose statement has been recorded by the police. The police said Mr Singh had joined the Delhi police as a sub-inspector in 1977.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
