Ex-soldier arrested for murder
A former Indian Army soldier was arrested by the police in connection with the murder of a woman who was found dead on September 14 at Manakpura in central Delhi.
The deceased, identified as Sunita, was working as a supervisor at a Paharganj hotel and was found dead with her throat slit in a room of the accused Sonu, who had taken it on rent three months ago.
“During the investigations we verified the antecedents of Sonu and found that he and the deceased woman were working together in a hotel. The deceased worked as a supervisor while Sonu was a steward. An intimacy had developed between them which resulted in illicit relations although both were married. They were sacked from the jobs a month ago and the deceased had started maintaining a distance from Sonu which annoyed him,” said a senior police official.
The police said that after receiving a tip off that Sonu would come to meet his relative in Burari, a trap was laid and he was arrested. During interrogation, Sonu confessed to the murder and also disclosed that he was earlier employed in Indian Army as a soldier but was sacked from the force on the allegations of theft in the year 2000.
