Eye on polls, govt schemes fast-tracked
With the Assembly elections in city coming closes, the city government is giving approval to all possible projects and schemes in the Cabinet meetings. On Tuesday, at a Cabinet meeting presided over by chief minister Sheila Dikshit, the city government gave its nod to at least six projects and schemes.
“The Cabinet has given its approval for construction of two shelter homes at Sarai Rohilla area for destitute pregnant and lactating women said a senior Delhi government official.
The Cabinet has also decided to allow existing higher educational institutions to operate from Lal-Dora and other non-conforming areas for another year.
It also gave its nod for the revised cost of construction of 15 railway over bridges and under bridges.
The proposal for grant of ration money allowance to the staff car drivers in department of prison and time bound career progression scheme for veterinary doctors have been approved in the Cabinet meeting.
The cabinet also decided to liberalise norms for issuance of income certificates to applicants of Annashree scheme.
People seeking benefit under the Annashree scheme will now be able to get income certificate from MLAs and MPs.
Apart from the approvals, the Cabinet also expressed its concern over the outbreak of dengue in the city and decided to remind the civic bodies to effectively concentrate on preventive measures.
Meanwhile, the chief minister on Tuesday flagged off 10 quick reaction vehicles (QRVs) to improve the disaster response mechanism.
