Family wiped out in Shimla bus accident
“What is left to say or ask? The whole family has been wiped out. Nothing is left; no one is left to say anything,” an agitated relative of Sunil Sharma shouted at media persons when asked for his reaction to the catastrophic accident near Shimla in Himachal Pradesh on Monday afternoon that left 10 people dead.
A resident of south Delhi’s Shahpur Jat village, Sharma and his two friends, Deepak Sharma and Yatindra Yadav, both residents of Dwarka sector 7, had planned the Shimla outing after a long time. Sharma was a senior manager at a private firm in southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar and his wife and two kids accompanied him on the trip. No one from the family survived in the accident near Chamba in Shimla.
“He was a travel enthusiast and had returned from a family trip to southern India two weeks ago. Sharma had decided to visit Shimla and the plan was charted out along with Deepak and Yatindra. “The three families hired a tempo traveller from a local travel agent a couple of days ago. The 12 tourists, including three women and six children, were on their way to Chamba from Khajjiar when the vehicle rolled down a gorge,” said a senior Delhi police officer.
The residential village of Sunil Sharma was wearing an eerie look on Tuesday as Sharma’s relatives and neighbours poured in from different areas of the capital to mourn the loss. Sharma’s elderly mother, Rameshwari Devi, who was not told about the incident till Tuesday afternoon, was inconsolable while relatives and neighbours tried to calm her down.
