Fire erupts at E. Delhi factory
A major fire broke out in east Delhi’s Patparganj industrial area on Thursday afternoon in which property worth lakhs was damaged, the police said.
The incident took place at a printing press-cum-plastic factory on plot number B/388, Patparganj in Madhu Vihar. “The incident was reported at around 2.45 pm from
Patparganj Industrial Area. A fleet of 23 fire tenders was rushed to the spot immediately and the fire was brought under control by 4.35 pm,” a senior fire official said.
“Around 25 people were working in the factory at the time of the fire. But all of them managed to escape unhurt,” said a police officer.
Although no casualty was reported, it is believed that property worth several lakhs of rupees was damaged in the fire. The cause behind the fire is believed to be a short circuit in a generator. Ravi Kochhar, the owner of the factory, who lives in Anand Vihar, is being questioned by the police.
In another incident, a minor fire broke out on the ninth floor of Akbar Bhavan in Chanakyapuri area in New Delhi on Thursday. The fire started at 3.30 pm and was controlled within half an hour. Five fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames. No casualty was reported.
