Firemen, cops alert for Diwali

The fire brigade and police personnel are gearing up to make that the capital is free of incidents of fire during the upcoming Diwali. The agencies are making elaborate arrangements at markets, malls and shopping complexes to ensure no incidents of fire take place in the festive season.
The police has increased its visibility in the markets, with most market places and shopping complexes witnessing huge crowds for the upcoming festive season. The police is also keeping a strict vigil to ensure that no untoward incident takes place. Delhi’s markets have been targets of terrorist attacks in the recent past. The police stated on Sunday that it is not taking any chances and the security has not been relaxed at any place in the capital.
The police has also asked market associations to keep watch and inform the police about any suspicious movements. “A PCR van will always be stationed near markets and malls,” said a senior official.
