Firms cut corners in Games work: Sheila
Chief minister Sheila Dikshit targeted the firms involved in various Commonwealth Games-related projects on Thursday saying that they compromised on quality despite being paid heavily. “Some of the ‘best’ firms involved in Commonwealth Games projects had cut corners with quality despite having taken ‘so much money’,” she said.
Speaking during a panel discussion on urban development at an event organised by Confederation of Real Estate Developers of India (CREDAI), Ms Dikshit further added, “I can tell you that I have been through the Commonwealth Games recently and I find the best companies cutting corners with quality.”
The chief minister went on to add, “You feel scared that they have taken so much money, still they are cutting corners.”
The Commonwealth Games had got mired in controversy over building standards of various infrastructure projects including the Games Village and matters just compounded when a foot overbridge collapsed near the J.N. stadium days before the event.
