First batch of pilgrims leaves for haj
The first batch of hajis were on Thursday given a warm farewell at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Haj pilgrims from the northern-states have been taking Haj flights from the IGI Airport. Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit along
with Union minister Salman Khurshid and Delhi revenue minister Dr A.K. Walia bade farewell to 300 Haj pilgrims from Delhi who departed from IGI Airport in the first Haj flight. Vice-chairman, Haj Committee of India, Mr Hasan Ahmad, Haj Committee working chairman, Delhi, Dr Parvez Mian and charge de affairs, Saudi Arab embassy, Mr Sagar Al Quraishi, were also present on this occasion.
Ms Dikshit, Salman Khurshid and Dr Walia presented packet gifts from the Delhi government to the pilgrims.
