First cut-off list to be out today

With Delhi University set to announce its first cut-off list on Tuesday, aspirants were tense as they hoped to make it to the premier varsity. “The cut off percentage will definitely be higher than last year. I am not sure if I can get admission,” Bikash Baruah, an applicant said.

“We are eagerly waiting for the list. I have applied in humanities stream and I am hoping to see my name in the first cut off list,” Anindita Deka, an applicant from Assam said. According to the university officials, admissions for the first cut-off list will take place between June 23 and June 25. “Though the cut-off will be high for the first list, students must not lose hope as the second and third lists will also come. Along with this, we also have sports, fine-arts and other quotas,” an official said.
The second list will be out June 26 while a third list will be released July 1.
Delhi University, one of the premier universities of the country received 143,224 applications forms this year for nearly 54,000 undergraduate seats.

HC to Duta: Don’t delay admissions
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI

June 21: The Delhi high court on Monday restrained the Delhi University Teach-ers’ Association (Duta) from obstructing the admission process for the academic year 2010-2011. Duta is agitating against the implementation of semester system for undergraduate students. In an interim order, Justice A.K. Pathak said, “Keeping in mind the career of a large number of students, it is ordered that till the next date of hearing, Duta and its office bearers are restrained from obstru-cting admission process in any manner whatsoever.”
The court passed the order after hearing a petition filed by DU seeking direction to Duta not to indulge in any agitation or obstruct the admission process. The court issued a notice to Duta and sought its response by August 16.
