Free sanitary napkins for schoolgirls

In order to improve the attendance of girl students in schools, the city government will soon unveil a plan under which sanitary napkins would be provided free of cost to girl students from poor families. This scheme would cover all Delhi government-run schools where it has been seen that girl students abstain due to hygiene-related issues.

Senior city government officials maintained that the school administrators had reported that the girl students skip classes due to menses. Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Barkha Singh said that the napkins would also be made available at all gender resource centres (GRC) run by the government in the city.
