FYUP: DU set to introduce more than 20 new courses

The Delhi University is coming out with more than 20 new courses in the newly introduced four-year undergraduate programme, taking the total number of courses to 54.
The distribution of these courses will depend on the structure and availability of teaching faculty from college to college.
Of the 54 courses, 11 foundation courses (FC) are completely new papers and is compulsory for all students admitted under the four-year programme.
The 11 foundation courses are language, literature, information technology, business, entrepreneurship, management, governance and citizenship, communication and life skills, geographic and socio-economic diversity, public health among others.
Besides, other subjects like linguistics and African studies are being introduced in the UG programme for the first time. Earlier, these courses were taught to post-graduate students.
In the league of the new courses, BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) in discipline course II is also included. This course will be introduced in six colleges. Some of them are Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies and College of Vocational Studies. Earlier, Mass Communication and Journalism were two separate courses but from the coming academic session, the entire content of the subjects will be merged.
Meanwhile, the University till Saturday sold more than a lakh OMR forms over the counter and online registrations till date are above 90,000, out of which 47,414 have been completed and submitted.
The university has also advised applicants to purchase admission forms only from the 18 designated centres. “Candidates are advised to buy OMR Form (Common Pre-Admission Form) only from the 18 designated centres. They are also requested to submitted them in the said centres,” Prof. J.M. Khurana, dean, students welfare, said.
