Gadkari: Happy with role
Former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, who will oversee the party’s Delhi unit affair along with party MP Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Saturday refuted reports claiming that he was unhappy with the role given to him by the BJP leadership. Assembly polls are scheduled in Delhi by October-November. A day after the BJP leadership asked him to oversee the Delhi unit affairs, Mr Gadkari said people are “fed up” of the Congress government and want a change. Asking the media to first “prove their story,” Mr Gadkari also rejected reports that there was any rift within the party after Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s elevation.
“I am surprised by these reports,” Mr Gadkari said on reports that he was not happy with the Delhi unit’s charge.
He met the Delhi unit leaders, including Dr Harshvardhan, Aarti Mehra, Sarita Chowdhury, Ramesh Biduri and Pravesh Verma among others at his residence.
“People are fed up of inflation and corruption in Delhi. We will gain confidence of all sections of society,” Mr Gadkari said.
Rejecting reports on rift within the party, Mr Gadkari asserted that all leaders are working as a team. “Whatever our president says, we abide by that,” he said.
