Gang of robbers arrested in Saket
A special team of the south-district police on Sunday arrested six men who had allegedly planned to rob a businessman outside a bank.
With the arrest, police officers have also recovered a pistol and five knives from the accused. The arrests took place in the Saket area after the south-Delhi police received a tip-off on the whereabouts of the accused. The accused have been identified as Nadeem (28), Noor Alam (24), Mohammed Ashif (25), Mohammed Nasim (27), Mohammed Mukeem alias Don (26) and Sohaib (22) of Gautam Vihar.
Police officers added that a man, identified as Hussain, had given the six men information about the businessman they were planning to target. “We had a tip-off that a group of robbers had surveyed the area (near PVR Saket) a day in advance to identify the person and to decide the escape route after the crime,” said the investigating officers. A police team was immediately dispatched to the spot after receiving the information, said the officers, adding that on specific identification, police apprehended two people riding a motorcycle. On the basis of identification done by them, four others were arrested from Malviya Nagar Metro station at around 12.30 pm. A loaded pistol with cartridges and five knives carried by the criminals were recovered, said the police, adding that during their sustained interrogation, the gang members admitted of committing four robberies in northeast Delhi area earlier.
