Garbage collection now just a call away
Beginning this year, one could get garbage cleaned up from designated collection sites of the MCD by putting up a message on its page at the social networking site, Facebook. Now, post that message by just making a call from your mobile phone. No need to access the Internet.
Not only that, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has moved further ahead, bringing all the 602 waterless urinals and 1,033 public toilets within the ambit of the service provided through Facebook.
A senior MCD official said that any mobile phone user can make a call at 011-46485270 and register the complaint about garbage disposal. This phone call would get registered as a complaint on the Facebook page of the MCD dealing with garbage disposal. He would get an SMS mentioning his complaint number and other relevant details. Once the complaint is addressed, another SMS would be sent to him about the same. The MCD’s Facebook page address is: www.facebook.com/municipalcorporationofdelhi. Beginning January 5 this year, the Facebook service has seen 375 complaints being received, at an average rate of little more than four complaints every day, and redressed.
